The successful website is visited by some 7,000 visitors per week. It was created using the basic system which includes a standard category navigation module allowing easier text input and added flexibility in page templates. In addition to the basic modules TM Software used three products from the contentXXL advanced range – XML, Event and Picture Gallery modules in order to meet the special demands of Visit Reykjavik.
The contentXXL advanced module XML allows the incorporation of a mash-up. This means content can be integrated from other websites giving information on the weather in Reykjavik.

The Visit Reykjavik website, www.visitreykjavik.is provides information about events, tours, activities and accommodation to travelers visiting Reykjavik and the surrounding areas. In order to fulfill the need for being up-to-date, clearly structured dates and events TM Software selected the Event module from the advanced range. This module provides an adaptable calendar facility and a full-text search. Also 5,000 recipients receive a newsletter produced by a module integrated into the system.
An important function of Visit Reykjavik is to pictorially represent the beauty of the city, but the time-consuming preparation and uploading of pictures can often pose a problem. The solution was a third advanced module, the contentXXL Picture Gallery, which allows among other things the up-loading of pictures in their original size, automatic preview, module-specific settings, use of templates, change of the picture sequence by drag and drop and central management of original pictures via a resource manager. Press and other professionals also have the opportunity to access an image gallery to obtain quality copyright images for use in the media.
The newly relaunched website has brought, with the help of the CMS by contentXXL International and TM Software, the City of Reykjavik to the fore as an interesting destination in the face of international competition. Now visitors, be their tourists, business people or residents, can use the website to find out about the events, activities and accommodation as well as general information about the City of Reykjavik.
