CMS WYSIWYG ”The decision to also base the Swiss family portal on contentXXL was clear to us from the very beginning. After the launch of “spick.net” turned out so successfully, we are now looking for more. Only when the Content Management System platform is initially applied collectively to multiple portals the optimization potential of such a system is open to us. In this way the existing modules utilized by “spick.net” can also be used for “swissfamily.ch” and the other way round", Urs Haering, Publishing Director of the KünzlerBachmann publishing house. Modern publishing companies run online editions parallel to their print publications, but they do not often use the synergy offered to them by the Internet, for instance, through the linking of content or the combination of applications. The Swiss KünzlerBachmann publishing house from St. Gallen is in this respect different.  Following the relaunch of the online version of the child and youth newspaper “Spick.net” with the help of Content Management System (CMS) contentXXL in 2007, it is now launching a modern Internet family magazine “swissfamily.ch” on the same platform. The clear advantage of this approach is the possibility for both (and also any additional) Internet portals to deploy all contentXXL modules as well as the portal content reciprocally. The editor decides with a few clicks, which content will be displayed at which navigation point in which URL. Online Consulting AG from Wil, Switzerland, the long standing Internet partner of the publishing house, is responsible for this project, just as it was for “Spick”.

The KünzlerBachmann publisher similarly looks after many print and online products in connection with young families. Last year an optimization push began with the decision to use Microsoft .NET based CMS contentXXL for all online magazines and portals: last year “spick.net” and this year the comprehensive family portal “swissfamily.ch”.

”The decision to also base the Swiss family portal on contentXXL was clear to us from the very beginning.” explained Urs Haering, Publishing Director of the KünzlerBachmann publishing house. “After the launch of “spick.net” turned out so successfully, we are now looking for more. Only when the Content Management System platform is initially applied collectively to multiple portals the optimization potential of such a system is open to us. In this way the existing modules utilized by “spick.net” can also be used for “swissfamily.ch” and the other way round.”

contentXXL standard functions provide both web portals with, for example, the possibility to operate a forum, a newsletter and an e-commerce shop or a poll and voting application (eVoting). The Spick.net special functions developed by Online Consulting such as “interactive e-Cards”, a romping place, guestbook, flea market or the cryptographic coder/decoder” are now also available to both websites.

Above and beyond this the contents of both portals can also be used together. The editor of both magazines can work on one with the same administration interface and decide individually with a few clicks which content should appear at which navigation point on which site.

The advantages of contentXXL already persuaded us last year to use CMS for the new spick.net presence: quick and uncomplicated implementation, brought about by the Microsoft.NET framework and the myriad of features with 50 out-of-the-box components for frequently recurring standard functions”, resumed Urs Haering. “After the introduction of the second portal on the same platform enthusiasm has become even greater. The criss-cross utilization of all modules and contents in all portals persuaded us to transfer additional portals from the publishing house to contentXXL.
