What is it?

• The template manager administers the templates for the output of media-independent contents

What is it capable of?

• Page templates define the basic structure of the various subject areas; the points which are accommodate by the modules at a later point are specified in them
• Templates for page fragments (modules) are managed as theme boxes
  Theme boxes form the “frame” around page fragments (modules)
• Module title templates ensure a portal-wide uniform display of module titles
• Each object template represents an individual object in different views; in case of articles, e.g.  preview in a tabular article overview, individual view of the article and print preview  
• Styles form the basis for the formatting of individual text sections, such as e.g. an intermediate overview; only these predefined styles can be used by the editor at a later point  
• Modules are templatable very flexibly, e.g. different templates can be used to display alternating lines or for the first elements of a list (e.g. top 10)  
• Switchover from monolingual to multilingual possible in the template  
• A preview function is available
• Commercially available HTML editors can be used for HTML templating
• The contents (e.g. a title line) are connected to the template via wildcards
• Logical coherences (e.g. first name does not exist) can also be dealt with in the template
• The context, e.g. the user name, can also be accessed via wildcards
• Templates can be defined independently from the language

What is its advantage?

• Contents can be used several times and displayed in different ways
• The design can be changed on the whole website by making only one change in the template
• Output of the media-independent contents for other media possible
